Belgian Recapture Decision


On 1 September 2006, the Government of Belgium announced changes to the regulations governing the use of methyl bromide as a fumigant. The recapture of methyl bromide is soon to be made compulsory.

On 1 July 2007, Belgian authorities plan to begin enforcing these new regulations. All fumigators will be required to establish that they are using an approved system to recapture the methyl bromide that is used during fumigations.

On 25 January 2007, Nordiko’s recapture system gained approval from the Belgian authorities as an “accepted system of recapture”. It is anticipated that Nordiko’s recapture technology will become the preferred system for many Belgian fumigators.
